Anais Holgado Lage
¡Hola!
Welcome to my personal website, where you can find my latests publications (literary and research) and news. If you want to follow more personal stuff, I am on instagram @anais.lage.
I love teaching, and I really enjoy teaching Spanish. I have taught a variety of courses in the Spanish and Portuguese Department (if you are curious: 101, 102, 103, 105, 107, 108, 205 and 207). Of those, I have coordinated and designed 107, 207 and 103. I also teach a First Year Seminar (150, The Way We Talk) in sociolinguistics, since I am a linguist by training.
I am currently doing research in discourse markers, especially in the functions of agreement and disagreement, and I am working with a group of great students in an article about Bajan, the creole variety of Barbados. Next, I would love to do research on code-switching, particularly in Gibraltar, and compare it with the code-switching studied in the US in the Hispanic community.
Writing is my biggest passion. I write fiction, mostly novels and short stories (I have tried poetry but for now, not my thing). In my publications section you can see all my short stories. I have also received a mention in the II Concurso de Literatura Erótica y Amorosa of Berez Haziku for the novel Adonde no llega la luz (not published yet).
When I am not teaching or writing, you can find me traveling the world with my family (I have two amazing young children), spending time in Spain in the summers, reading books (mostly contemporary fiction) or petting any animal that can be petted. Thank you for reading!
